Josh has been working in HIV prevention and care work since volunteering at Gay Men’s Health Crisis, conducting all-day safer sex workshops during the anxious days in which there was no test or effective treatment for HIV infection.
After receiving his Master’s Degree in Social Work in 1984 from New York University School of Social Work, he started his career at the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services as a clinical social worker and supervisor, and then as the development director of that agency’s first scatter site housing program for adults and families with AIDS.
From 2001 to 2003 he served as the Clinical Director of the Foundation for Research on Sexually Transmitted Diseases, a Manhattan-based CBO providing HIV prevention, medical and housing services, and from 2003 to 2007 he served as FROSTD’s Executive Director. After FROSTD’s strategic alliance with the Harlem United Community AIDS Center in 2007, Josh served as Managing Director in the Housing Division of FROSTD/Harlem United.
He came to Community Health Action of Staten Island as Director of Health Education and Prevention in early 2009. |
