The goals of the Staten Island Ryan White Part B HIV CARE Network are to promote the coordination, integration and needs assessment of services for HIV-infected and affected Staten Islanders through a consortia that is comprised of consumers and providers. Its goal is also to: facilitate the establishment of good working relationships among all HIV/AIDS service providers, provide meaningful involvement of PWAs, minorities, women, youth, immigrants and the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender communities, increase community awareness of HIV/AIDS issues, and advocate for improved and expanded services and sound public policy.
The Network’s mission is consistent with the requirements of the Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act, including the consortium Required Assurances to New York
State and Bureau of Community
Programs Guidance Documents.

Who
We Are …
The Staten Island Ryan White Part B Care
Network is the Ryan White Part B funded coordinating
council for HIV health and social services on Staten
Island. It deals with the full continuum of care and support
to individuals and families living with HIV disease.
The HIV Care Network is made up of
health care providers, community based organizations, persons living with
HIV/AIDS and a balance of minority groups, the faith based community,
government representatives and individuals from educational institutions.
The HIV Care Network is responsible
for defining the local epidemic and resources, planning and coordinating
services and advocacy, and raising public awareness about the need for
service development funds.
The HIV Care Network is responsible
for the World AIDS Day Commemoration on Staten Island.
It also organizes days of education with NYS Senate and Assembly members in
Albany as
well as with City Council members in NYC. It also advocates on a national
level.
The HIV Care Network publishes a
quarterly newsletter, WIZE WORDZ, with articles on current issues related
to the AIDS epidemic on Staten Island and
announcements of upcoming events and new programs.

The
Staten Island Ryan White Part B
HIV Care Network is made up of several committees that meet ten times a
year. They are:

The Executive Committee is the
governing body overseeing the working of the Network. It functions like a
board of directors and is responsible for guiding the Network in meeting
its goals and objectives. There are consumer and provider members that are
elected.
The Consumer Involvement Committee meets
to promote consumer involvement in the region, provide a venue for consumers to share the realities of living with HIV/AIDS, identify gaps in services and participate in the development of policies and other strategies to address their needs.
The Care Coordination Committee
reviews regional issues of service delivery, assesses needs, identify emerging issues and provide opportunities for providers and consumers to facilitate seamless entry into service systems.
The Policy Advisory/Education Committee deals with informing legislative, government and community leaders at the local and state levels of regional needs and emerging issues related to HIV/AIDS, promote a coordinated response to these issues, and educate the community about services and treatment for HIV.
In addition to committee meeting, the General Membership meeting is held quaterly. Be involved!
